Bringing art to life in Schaffhausen

The Sturzenegger Foundation wants people to be able to experience the art and history of Schaffhausen. To fulfil this mission, it collects works of art and historical items as well as manuscripts and old prints that are significant for the city and region of Schaffhausen.

The collection is made available on permanent loan to the Museum zu Allerheiligen and Schaffhausen City Library. The acquired items are selected for their artistic or historical quality.

Besides acquisition, the Foundation also ensures the maintenance (restoration, care, indexing) and presentation of the items. It works closely with the museum and the city library, supporting their work by facilitating exhibitions, projects, scientific articles and other publications.

To fulfil this task, the board of trustees is in constant, open dialogue with the city council, the management of the museum and its curators, the associations close to the museum and the management of the city library. In this context it advocates for sensible, future-oriented and consensual solutions.
